Sue Nees spent five years in Japan studying granite sculpture. It took several years before someone finally had the heart to tell her that the broken Japanese she had picked up from her studio associates was not at all ladylike, and in fact suggested that she was trying to sound like a trucker, or someone who was being cheated in cards. She now lives among family and friends in the mountains of Virginia.
